Full Description
This course is not a beginner level course, it will be expected that you have knowledge and skills in basic extrication and stabilization.
4 hours of classroom will be provided covering new vehicle technologies and challenges both on vehicle safety features and changes to the different materials used by vehicle manufacturers.
Hands-on portions will require participation (PPE is a MUST). Advanced techniques will be walked through on the afternoon of the first day. We will also be covering under rides and over rides to include advanced stabilization and moving vehicles and working under secured loads. Depending on vehicle availability we will be utilizing semitrailer‘s and other heavier vehicles as well.
The final exercise will include scenario based evolutions where you will work in teams to accomplish your objectives in multiple vehicle pile-ups.

Prerequisites:
Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics Instructor I
First Class Firefighter or Firefighter II for 1 year
Homework will be required for this class.
Participants are highly encouraged to download the required book from the state.
Required Book: IFSTA Fire and Emergency Services Company Officer 6th Edition
Students are encouraged to bring personal cameras for use in the practical activity.

Full Description:
This course is designed to give entry-level fire officers the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements as outlined in based on NFPA1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. The course identifies the requirements necessary to perform the duties of a first-line supervisor or a supervisor who is in charge of a single fire company or station, with information and skills required for success.
This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of management and supervision by concentrating on such topics as:
- Organizational Structure
- Communication Skills
- Human Resource Management
- Community and Government Relations
- Administration
- Inspections and Investigations
- Emergency Service Delivery
- Health and Safety.
Candidates should expect to spend time outside of class to complete the required exercises as well as prepare for the written and practical examinations.
