Eric Jones

VES (Vent Enter Search) Instructor

Eric Jones is currently serving as a Captain/TrainingOfficer for the Scottsburg Fire Department in southern Indiana. He joined the fire service in 2006 and has served as a volunteer and career firefighter. Throughout his 17 years of fire experience he has worked with many organizations such as the (IFIA) Indiana Fire Instructors Association and the(IDHS) Indiana Department of Homeland Security on training development across the state.

Eric also serves as a live fire safety for (FDIC) FireDepartment Instructors Conference. He is a member of the (ISFSI) InternationalSociety of Fire Service Instructors and (IAAI) International Association of Arson Investigators. Eric was awarded the 2022 Indiana Fire Instructor of the Year by the Indiana Fire Chief’s Association at the Indiana Emergency Response Conference. He has three editor publications in Fire Engineering (Leadership Responsibility, Impacts of Social Media and Professional & Personal Assessments).

Eric believes that training and culture is the most important aspects in regards to individual and organizational success. Eric is the lead instructor and founder of Fire First Culture & Training, which provides a fire first mentality focusing on modern fire service culture topics through effective training.  He has conducted training for over 40 state certification courses, including 13 fire academy classes, multiple hazmat classes, fire officer strategy and tactics, fire officer and more. Eric’s mission is to continue to share the pride in the fire service through effective training and positive culture to better the fire service for tomorrow.
